Gophers Down No. 19 Alabama Off Clincher From Krstanovic
2/1/2019 9:27:00 PM | Men's Tennis
TUSCALOOSA, ALA. - Josip Krstanovic led the University of Minnesota Men's Tennis Team to an upset 4-3 victory over the No. 19 Alabama Crimson Tide. Krstanovic defeated No. 24 Mazen Osama 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 in No. 1 Singles with the match locked up 3-3.
"I picked my game up after doubles even though I didn't have my best doubles day. But, I had to pick it up against Alabama," Krstanovic said. "After a huge doubles point, it was obvious that we had a great opportunity to beat a great team. I started playing my game and decided to enjoy my time on the court as much as I could. Clinching is always fun and I am very happy to do it for my team."
Krstanovic earned his second win over a ranked opponent this season, after defeating No. 31 Decamps of UCF last weekend in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, making him 2-1 against ranked opponents this season.
