Minnesota Heads to Boston for Matches with BYU and Harvard

Gophers Men's Tennis is set to travel to Boston, Mass. this weekend for a pair of dual matches on Saturday Jan. 25 and Sunday Jan. 26 against the BYU Cougars and Harvard Crimson. The Maroon & Gold are coming off of a tight 4-3 victory against Marquette University last Saturday at the Rochester Athletic Club in Rochester, Minn.
The busy weekend for the Gophers will start at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday against the Cougars of Brigham Young University. While Minnesota hasn't played the Cougars since 2014, senior Stefan Milicevic is certainly familiar BYU's Sean Hill. During the 2019 ITA Fall Nationals, both Milicevic and Hill faced off in the first round of the tournament's consolation bracket. Milicevic ended up coming away with the victory, defeating Hill 7-6 (0), 6-7 (4), 7-5. One can assume that the two will have a much anticipated rematch in the No. 1 singles spot on Saturday.
Following their match against BYU on Saturday, the Gophers will have to reset for match two of the weekend, as at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday the Maroon & Gold will take on the Harvard Crimson. This will be the first ranked test of the season for the No. 39 ranked Gophers, with Harvard University clocking in just two spots beneath Minnesota at the No. 41 ranking in the nation. The Crimson have yet to give up a single point this spring season, winning both of their matches so far against Purdue and Army by a score of 7-0.
"I'm really looking forward to playing against such great teams, especially on the road," Gophers junior Vlad Lobak said. "It's always nice to play someone new and to test ourselves with where we are as a team. I'm looking forward to competing out there and just having some fun."
