Gophers Prepare for Home Opening Weekend

The University of Minnesota men's tennis team is set to play in a pair of Big Ten vs. SEC matches this weekend at Baseline Tennis Center, with the Maroon & Gold playing Auburn University at 6:00 p.m. on Friday Jan. 31, followed by a match against the University of Alabama on Sunday Feb 2 starting at 12:00 p.m.
This weekend's matches will be the first two hosted by the Gophers in the 2020 spring season. Minnesota traveled to Tuscaloosa and Auburn last season to take the pair of SEC squads on their own home courts, and now the roles will be reversed in this season's set of matches.
Both of the Gopher opponents will prove to be tough challenges starting with the Auburn Tigers on Friday, who enter their match with Minnesota with a perfect 5-0 record so far on the year. As for the Crimson Tide, they enter the weekend holding a 5-1 record, with their lone loss coming at the hands of Dartmouth College earlier in the season.
"Had a couple of good matches on the road and now I'm really excited to play at Baseline this weekend," freshman Siim Troost said. "I think that our team is in a good shape and we're all looking forward to playing at home. Really hope that people can come out and support us at Baseline this weekend!"
