Minnesota to host final two matches of four-match homestead

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The University of Minnesota men's tennis team is set to host the final two matches of their four-match homestretch as they square off against Purdue and Indiana this weekend.

The Gophers (5-4) will first host the Boilermakers on Friday, March 26 at 5:30PM, and will come back to Baseline Tennis Center on Sunday, March 28 at 1:30PM to take on the Hoosiers.

Setting The Stage
The Maroon & Gold split the two home matches last weekend, first falling to No. 16 Ohio State 6-1 after being swept in singles play. The Gophers efforts were highlighted by two upset victories in doubles play to secure the doubles point, as Siim Troost/Vlad Lobak and Jackson Allen/Sebastian Vile proved victorious over ranked opponents.

Minnesota turned it around on Sunday however, defeating the Penn State Nittany Lions by a score of 4-3 in comeback fashion.

Tale of the Tape - The Boilermakers
Purdue (1-8) is in a deep slump coming into the weekend, dropping their last eight matches, with their only win of the year coming in the season opener against Nebraska. The Boilermakers are led by Mateo Julio, the squad's No. 1 singles player and team leader in wins with a record of 3-3 on the season.

In the all-time series, the Gophers have dominated with a 54-11 record, however Purdue has gotten the best of the Maroon & Gold in recent contests, winning four out of the last seven matches.

Tale of the Tape - The Hoosiers
Indiana (3-5) has also been on a bit of a rocky stretch the past few weeks, dropping three out of their last four matches, including their most recent loss to Northwestern.

The Gophers lead the all-time series over Indiana with a record 49-30, winning four out of the last five matches. This will not be the first the Hoosiers and the Gophers have seen each other this season however, as both schools competed in the Badger Invitational, which was played under hidden dual format.
