Minnesota's distance squad is set to compete at the Big Ten Indiana Invite #2 this Friday.

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Golden Gophers distance corps is set to begin the outdoor season at the Big Ten Indiana Invitational #2 this Friday in Bloomington, Ind.

About the Big Ten Indiana Invitational #2
Due to weather, all events at the Big Ten Indiana Invitational #2 will take place on Friday rather than the originally scheduled two-day competition format. Both field events and track events are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. CT at Indiana's Robert C. Haugh Track & Field Complex.

Last Time Out
The Gophers won eight event titles at the Big Ten Florida Invitational last weekend. Allison Gerads (long jump) and Amira Young (200m) both won their respective events with program record marks while Abigail Schaaffe moved into 10th in program history with her winning times in both the 400m and 400m hurdles. Schaaffe also joined Val Larson, Kayla Vogt, and Janielle Josephs on the winning 4x400m relay team. Erin Dunning won the open section of the women's hammer throw while Kaleb Siekmeier (discus invite) and Kostas Zaltos (hammer throw invite) won titles on the men's side with all-time top-10 marks. Siekmeier moved into eighth in program history in discus while Zaltos climbed to sixth among all-time Gophers in hammer throw.

Outdoor Records Falls
Allison Gerads set a new Minnesota program record in long jump at the Big Ten Florida Invitational with a career-best mark of 6.45m (21-02.00). Gerads improved on the previous Minnesota program record of 6.44m (21-01.50) set by Todea-Kay Willis in 2011; she also improved on her own previous outdoor long jump PR of 5.55m (18-02.50) by nearly an entire meter. Amira Young won the 200 meters at the Big Ten Florida Invitational with an unofficial Minnesota program record time, clocking a wind-aided (+4.1) time of 23.44 seconds in the 200 meters to tie Minnesota's oldest program record held by Jane Oas since 1976.

Indoor Records Fall
The Gopher men recorded all-time top-10 marks in six different events during the indoor season, including two program record performances from Alec Basten, who set new Minnesota records in the 3,000 meters (7:52.05) and 5,000 meters (13:32.98). On the women's side, the Gophers recorded all-time top-10 marks in 14 events and broke two program records as Amira Young bested her own Minnesota record in the 200 meters (23.16) and Bethany Hasz improved on her own Minnesota record in the 3,000 meters (8:59.37).
