The trip will be the last regular season road contest for the Maroon & Gold.
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The University of Minnesota men's tennis team will visit the Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday, April 11 at 12:00pm for this season's second edition of the Border Battle.
The Gophers (7-6) came out victorious in the previous matchup against their cross-border rival with a 5-2 victory at Baseline Tennis Center on March 6.
This weekend's contest will also be the last regular season road trip of the year for the "U", as they will return home next week for a season-ending homestand.
Setting the Stage:
The Maroon & Gold suffered a two-game skid in their matchups last weekend against two tough opponents in Northwestern and Illinois, dropping both matches by a score of 5-2.
Jackson Allen and Sebastian Vile proved to be a bright spot in the Gophers doubles lineup however, battling tough in two unfinished bouts against ranked opponents last weekend, leading the No. 7 pairing of Northwestern's Simen Bratholm and Nick Brookes, as well as being knotted up with the Illini's premiere duo of 14th-ranked Zeke Clark and Alex Brown at the time of completion.
Allen also defeated the No. 43-ranked singles player in straight sets in the Illinois match.
Tale of the Tape - The Badgers
Wisconsin has struggled for the majority of the season with a record of 4-10, including a stretch that has seen four losses in their last five contests. The Badgers are led by Jared Pratt, who holds the team lead in singles wins with eight.
Minnesota has won each of the previous five showdowns with the Badgers in the all-time series, including this season's 5-2 victory, and holds the all-time series record of 69-58-3.
