NCAA Indoor Championships Await Gophers

MINNEAPOLIS -- Four representatives from the Golden Gopher track & field program are scheduled to compete at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the University of New Mexico this Friday through Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M.
Gophers at NCAA Indoors
In total, four Gophers earned four entries into three individual events. Minnesota's entries at this year's championships return the Gophers to the indoor championships after missing the 2022 field.
The Maroon and Gold's top qualifier is junior Shelby Frank in the women's weight throw, where the Grand Forks, N.D., native is ranked No. 2 in the country this season. Frank, who was named the Big Ten's Field Athlete of the Championships, won the conference crown in Geneva, Ohio, in February.
Minnesota earned two qualifiers in the 60m for the first time in program history with Amira Young and Akilah Lewis both representing the Gophers. Young is making her second appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships after being named the Big Ten's Track Athlete of the Championships last month. Lewis, who was a member of the Gophers 4x100m relay All-America squad, makes her first NCAA individual appearance at collegiate track's biggest stage. Young enters the meet with the ninth-fastest time at 7.18 while Lewis' top time this season of 7.19 is tied for 10th.
Lastly sophomore Nyalaam Jok makes her indoor championships debut after earning outdoor All-America honors last season as a freshman. Jok's school-record mark of 1.86m (6-1 1/4) puts her in a tie for 12th heading into the championship meet.
About the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships
The 2023 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be contested over two days at the Albuquerque Convention Center on the campus of the University of New Mexico. Live results are available via FlashResults.com, and live championship coverage will be streamed on ESPN+ starting at 10:30 a.m. CT Friday, March 10 and starting at 12:30 p.m. CT Saturday, March 11. There will be two re-airs of the meet. The first re-air will take place starting at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 12 on ESPNU. The second re-air of the championship will take place starting at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 13 on ESPNU.
