Gophers to Compete in Sarasota April 7-8

Loaded field awaits Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS - It's a loaded field this weekend as the Golden Gophers rowing team competes in the Big Ten Invitational in Sarasota, Fla., April 7-8.
Minnesota joins fellow B1G opponents Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Rutgers, and Wisconsin, along with other teams from across the nation at the regatta that will take place at Nathan Benderson Park. The action begins Friday at 7:30 a.m. (CT) and continues later that afternoon before finishing up Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. (CT).

Gopher Captains Named
Minnesota announced that seniors Isabella Bejaran (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) and Harriet Haege (Orange, New South Wales, Australia) were named team captains for the 2022-23 season. Both captains are entering their fourth year with the Maroon and Gold and were on the First Varsity Eight boat during the Gophers' fifth-place result at the 2022 Big Ten Championship.
California Training
The Gophers made two separate trips to California in early 2023 in order to prepare for the upcoming championship season. The first was in January before classes got in session as the Maroon and Gold traveled to San Diego for a week of training. The team flew out to Chula Vista in early March for more intense preparation, including a scrimmage against Gonzaga.
Next on the Docket
The Gophers are back in action April 15 when they hit the road for Lawrence, Kan., to take part in the Kansas Conference Clash.
