From Coach Strodel's Desk
"Our team has made a lot of progress since returning from Dexter Lake," Strodel said. "The athletes feel this momentum and are excited to line-up Sunday morning to compete. For our seniors and graduates - thank you! I hope we send you out with a great race."

Last Time Out
The Golden Gophers' first varsity eight boat turned in the best performances of the day at the Dexter Lake Invitational April 29, finishing fifth in the eight-team race with a time of 6:37.1 during the morning session. The same group turned in a similar effort in the afternoon as it raced to fifth again behind a 7:07.6 result during the regatta hosted by Oregon State.

Miller Chases Rowing Dreams
Former Minnesota rower and graduate assistant coach, Lauren Miller, started her career with the Maroon and Gold as a walk-on, which fueled her desire to improve. That grew into the pursuit of new dreams of competing at the sport's highest level, where she recently won a silver medal for Team USA at the Pan American Games Qualification Regatta.

Gopher Captains Named
Minnesota announced that seniors Isabella Bejaran (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) and Harriet Haege (Orange, New South Wales, Australia) were named team captains for the 2022-23 season. Both captains are entering their fourth year with the Maroon and Gold and were on the First Varsity Eight boat during the Gophers' fifth-place result at the 2022 Big Ten Championship.

California Training
The Gophers made two separate trips to California in early 2023 in order to prepare for the championship season. The first was in January before classes got in session as the Maroon and Gold traveled to San Diego for a week of training. The team flew out to Chula Vista in early March for more intense preparation, including a scrimmage against Gonzaga.
