Gophers Win Third Straight

Minneapolis, Minn. ââ'¬" The University of Minnesota men's tennis team won their third straight dual match Sunday at Baseline Tennis Center over North Dakota 7-0.
Doubles
Minnesota continued their strong doubles match play by starting the day off with a 6-1 victory by Eli Ogilvy and Marino Alpeza over Dustin Britton and Travis Lau in the No. 1 spot.
Soon after, Justyn Levin and Stefan Milicevic clinched the doubles point by defeating Ty Misialek and Alex Mailes from the No. 2 spot.
Jeremy Lynn and Jesse Sprinkel were leading Matt Hokanson and Simon Danyluk 5-3 before the match was left unfinished because of Minnesota clinching the point.
Singles
Ogilvy picked up the second point for the Gophers with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Mailes in the No. 2 spot. Fellow freshman George Lovitt followed with his own victory, defeating Travis Lau 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 4 spot.
Sprinkel had the clinching point for the Maroon and Gold when he defeated Simon Danyluk 6-4, 6-2 then Milicevic picked up another singles victory by beating Dustin Britton 6-2, 7-5 in the No. 1 spot.
Levin battled back after falling 6-3 in the first set to Misialek. He won the next two sets 6-0, 6-2. Lynn finished off the day with a win against Eshan Varma. He won the first set 6-2 but fell in the second 7-6 (4). Lynn then battled back to win the third set 1-0(7).
Minnesota continues the season January 28 as they host Western Michigan at 10 a.m. and Green Bay at 4 p.m. at Baseline.
