Gophers to Compete in ITA Regionals

Minnesota will travel to Tulsa, Okla. This Weekend for ITA Central Regional Tournament
The Golden Gopher Men's Tennis program will hit the road Thursday for the 2018 ITA Central Regional Tournament in Tulsa, Okla. This is a tournament the team knows well, as Minnesota had the pleasure of hosting the 2017 rendition.
Last Time Out
Last season, former Gophers Matic Spec and Felix Corwin took the doubles title in this tournament, while current junior Stefan Milicevic won the singles competition. Milicevic defeated Toby Boyer of Nebraska 6-1, 6-1 in straight sets on his home court, and the whole team will look to build on that success at this years tournament.
"The team is excited to be able to compete after a few weeks of practice," sophomore Jackson Allen said. "We did really well at Regionals last year, and want to improve upon that performance her in Tulsa."
Aside from Milicevic's participation in the ITA All-American Singles Tournament, this will be a return to the court for most of the squad since either the Ivy Plus Invitational or the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
Gopher Participants
Freshman Sebastian Vile, sophomores Allen, and Vlad Lobak, juniors Eli Ogilvy and Milicevic, and seniors Josip Krstanovic, Justyn Levin, and Marino Alpeza will all participate in both the singles and doubles portions of the event. Sophomore Kaleb Dobbs will be playing in the singles portion exclusively. This will also be Ogilvy's first game action of the season after a return from injury.
Tournament Format
The tournament will feature single-elimination singles and doubles main draws.
