MINNEAPOLIS -- The Golden Gopher track & field program travels to Champaign, Ill., for the 2021 Big Ten Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

About the B1G Outdoor Championships
Three full days of competition begin Friday at the Fighting Illini's Demirjian Park/Gary R. Wieneke Track. Action begins at 11:30 a.m. CT Friday, 10:30 a.m. CT Saturday, and 11 a.m. CT Sunday. Fans can follow the B1G competition through live results via PT Timing or watch live via BTN+.

CDC and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) guidelines limit seating availability at the meet. In order to comply with these guidelines, venue seating will be limited to team pass lists that provide reserved ticketed seating for spectators. There will be no public ticket sales for this event. Teams will have limited seating around the corners of the track and will not have access to the bleacher area to meet the IDPH guidelines.

Last Time Out
The Gophers won seven events at the Wisconsin B1G Invitational last weekend. Tess Keyzers and Kostas Zaltos swept the hammer throw titles, and they both moved into second in Minnesota history with career-best throw. Devia Brown and Kyle Atkinson swept the shot put titles as well. Phillipe Barnett won men's discus, Ekhardt Van der Watt won men's pole vault, and Hailey Poole won women's javelin to round out the Gophers' event wins.

Gophers at the B1G Outdoor Championships
The Gopher women have won three B1G outdoor titles (2006, 2016, and 2018) while the men have won seven outdoor team titles (1949, 1968, 1998, 1999, 2003, 2009, and 2010). The 2020 Big Ten Outdoor Championships were canceled; most recently, the women finished fifth and the men finished eighth at the 2019 B1G Outdoor Championships.
