MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota rowing is back in action at the Big 12 & Big 10 Double Dual Saturday in Kansas City, Kan., from Wyandotte County Lake.

The event was originally scheduled as a double dual, but weather forced it to be condensed into an abbreviated regatta with all four teams competing at once. Races are set to begin Saturday morning at 8 a.m. featuring the Golden Gophers, Iowa, Oklahoma, and host Kansas.

Last Time Out
The Maroon and Gold were able to get in three full sessions in Sarasota, Fla., against a loaded field of the nation's top teams during the Big Ten Invitational April 7-8.

Gopher Captains Named
Minnesota announced that seniors Isabella Bejaran (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) and Harriet Haege (Orange, New South Wales, Australia) were named team captains for the 2022-23 season. Both captains are entering their fourth year with the Maroon and Gold and were on the First Varsity Eight boat during the Gophers' fifth-place result at the 2022 Big Ten Championship.

California Training
The Gophers made two separate trips to California in early 2023 in order to prepare for the championship season. The first was in January before classes got in session as the Maroon and Gold traveled to San Diego for a week of training. The team flew out to Chula Vista in early March for more intense preparation, including a scrimmage against Gonzaga.

Next on the Docket
Minnesota has its final tune-up before the Big Ten Championship when it heads to Dexter Lake, Ore., for the Dexter Lake Invitational April 29 hosted by Oregon State.
