LAST TIME OUT
The University of Minnesota track and field program saw 11 different program top 10 performances down in Waco, Texas, at the Clyde Hart Classic. Senior Shelby Frank set two of those marks, with her discus victory improving on her school record in the event that she set in 2022.
Frank's school record toss was marked at 59.69m (195-10) and improved on her previous school record mark of 58.85m (193-1) that she set at the 2022 Big Ten Outdoor Championships. Frank's toss in the discus is an early outdoor season No. 1 mark in the nation. Frank also put forth a lifetime best in the hammer as well, launching the implement 62.78m (205-11) to finish as the top college athlete and pushes her to the No. 6 spot in Minnesota history.
Minnesota's Charles Godfred, a true freshman from Nigeria, put forth the best long jump mark in 29 years to win the event at 7.96m (26-1 1/2). The lifetime best for the first-year Gopher is the best by a freshman in school history and puts him just behind the school record holder, Keita Cline, who's 8.12m (26-7 3/4) jump came in 1995.
GOPHERS REWRITE PROGRAM TOP 10 RECORDS
