Minnesota earned seven top-three finishes on day two of B1G competition in Prairie View, Texas, on Saturday.

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas -- The Golden Gopher track & field team wrapped up the two-day Husker B1G Invitational with seven top-three finishes on day two of competition on Saturday.

"We saw a lot of good performances this weekend," director of track & field and cross country Matt Bingle said. "I think we are really competing well and doing a good job of taking another step forward each week, whether it be in practice or competition. We need to focus on pursuing excellence in all areas on and off the track."

Amira Young led the Maroon & Gold with two top-three showings on Saturday, finishing as runner-up in the women's 100m in 11.44 seconds and adding a third-place finish in the 200m in 23.88 seconds. On the men's side, Kion Benjamin led the Gopher men in the sprints, finishing seventh in the 100m in 10.53 seconds and placing eighth in the 200m in 21.41 seconds.

In the 400m, Val Larson moved up to eighth on Minnesota's all-time list with a career-best time of 54.33 seconds for third place, and Abigail Schaaffe ran 54.81 for sixth place at the meet. In the men's 400m, Ben Psicihulis led the Gophers with a fourth-place finish in a season-best 47.06 seconds.

Larson and Schaaffe joined Janielle Josephs and Kayla Vogt on the third-place women's 4x400m relay team, clocking a time of 3:43.03, while the men's 4x400m relay team of Noah Burton, Psicihulis, Collin Sieffert, and Elliott Davis finished sixth in 3:13.45. Gophers Aarron Westmoreland, Benjamin, Finn Schirmer, and Jade Reicks ran a season-best 41.23 seconds for eighth place in the 4x100m relay as well.

Another top-three podium finish for Minnesota came in men's pole vault where Mike Herauf recorded a career-best jump of 5.19m (17-00.25) for third place. In the women's competition, Lexy Berger cleared a career-best 3.94m (12-11.00 ft.) to place 10th.

The Gophers women had a solid day in the throws, combining for four top-nine finishes in shot put and javelin. Devia Brown led the way in third place in shot put with a season-best throw of 16.85m (55-03.50) to improve her mark at third on Minnesota's all-time list. Tess Keyzers came in fifth with a season-best throw of 15.72m (51-07.00), and McKenzie Duwenhoegger finished ninth with a career-best mark of 15.16m (49-09.00). Hailey Poole represented the Maroon & Gold with a fifth-place showing in javelin (45.51m, 149-04 ft.) as well.
